Comments:
Beautiful classic bluewater boat. Designed by Bill Crealock. A heavy displacement double ender for long distance cruising. The hull is heavily built from hand-laid fiberglass with polyester resin. Mahogany and teak interior with white vinyl overhead over a layer of mylar. Zaftra was built in Costa Mesa, CA. and Wrightsville Beach, NC. We are her second owners.
Accommodations:
Coming below, immediately to starboard is a sit-down chart table large enough to accommodate a standard paper chart folded once, and a cabinet that may safely stow a laptop computer for electronic navigation. Lifting the hinged chart table top gives access to storage for many paper charts, tools and documents. Just forward under the chart table is storage for additional large charts. Forward, outboard and aft there is plenty of space for electronics. The Garmin 4208 chart plotter, mounted aft, may be swiveled to be visible from the boat interior or from the cockpit. Above the chart table forward, there are installed radio and navigation equipment and a Ritchie compass. Aft of the station and recessed into the bulkhead is the 110v/12v electric panel. Flanking the nav station forward is a deep hanging wet locker. Under the Nav station seat is the watermaker and control panel. Across to port is a U-shaped galley with lots of storage space, a two burner gimbaled propane stove with oven, a large icebox and a SS sink. Further aft is the engine compartment with fuel tanks, filters and batteries as well as the Volvo engine. Next forward from the galley is the main salon with dining to port. The dining table drops into a double berth and above is a full length book shelf, two storage lockers and an alcove. Underneath are five storage lockers. To starboard are a full length pullman settee low and a full length pilot berth above with lee cloths. Storage lockers under both berths. The interior wood is mainly of mahogany and teak with satin and gloss varnishes. The storage lockers are painted white. Locker and door latches are of brass or stainless steel. The cabin sole is 1" thick with a teak and holly laminate. Headroom is 6'3" with white vinyl overhead over a layer of mylar with ash dividers. Next forward is the head/wardrobe compartment. To port is the head compartment with an aft facing head, a wash basin with lockers above and below, shelving above the counter, and a shower. To starboard are clothing lockers and a hanging locker.
Continuing forward is the stateroom. This is either a double and single berth or a very wide double berth with a padded board between. There are storage lockers underneath to port, starboard and forward. The starboard bulkhead of the salon and stateroom bulkhead are finished with ash over mylar. An AGA Correa overhead magnetic compass is mounted above the port berth. Forward, interior, is a double chain-locker access. Also, chain may be funneled to a chain locker under the sole mid-ship.
